Intermot: K1200R!

new BMW K1200R

Today’s fresh news for the motorheads: after the K1200S, BMW unveils the stunning K1200R at Intermot!

note: if you landed here from google searching for the bmw R1200R, go to the R1200R blog entry.

Comments and Insults:

Really dunno what to say... Seems too little BMW-ish for me... I'll rather wait for the forthcoming R1200R or (even better) R1200S! ;-)

They're moving to a different market (for them) with the new K engines.

Going with the new 4 cylinders engines more on the "Sport" edge, instead of having a faster but heavier tourer than the R series, as it was with the old K's, will certainly enlarge BMW market (always good...) and bring in fresh air.

As it was for the R1200GS earlier this year, the boxer-equipped motorbikes will have the same philosophy as the earlier models (I hope!).
Strong motorbike for high mileage, easy and incredibly enjoyable to ride.
You know... I'm waiting to see a new R1200R with something around 100HP twin engine ;)

We're just experiencing a new, bigger, differentiation between the R and K series.

Enjoy!

(BTW our friends, you know where, are writing tons of posts about it...)

I have great interest in the K1200R. My first BMW motorcycle was a 1985 K100. After 85,000 miles I concluded it was the best bike I'd ever ridden. I was sad to here BMW had discontinued its naked version. Now I look forward to the release of The K1200R. It should be available by the time I pay off my K1200LTC.

That's about 136,794 km, wonderful.
My current bike is an R1150R I bought new in March 2003 and now reached 50,000 km (about 31000 miles).

The K1200R intrigues me, but I love the twins (BMW, Ducati), and I'm lately considering the 1200GS... but I'm in love with my R/R...
;)
