BMW R1200R.

Follow up from my older post.
Here’s some press photos of the new BMW R1200R.
Ahem.

Comments and Insults:

Overall a lovely bike and with the same hp as the R1200ST/R1200RT (or close to it) this bike will not be you grandfather's be-em.

Me and my wife toured for 10 days (4000 km) in March on my brother in law's R1200GS (also a very nice bike). The GS have a little less hp, but still had enough for two plus tons of luggage and we are not the worlds lightest people either. Just did not like it being so high - especially when getting on and off with luggage loaded, but one up it is superb.

Just one thing I do not like about the R1200R is the instrument cluster. I think the R1200GS / R1200ST / K1200R design looks a lot beter. But this will not stop me from buying one. I WILL! buy one when they come to South Africa in probably middle 2007 I guess.

Good work BMW.

Yes, it's the same engine.

I too, don't like the instruments, and even the instrument panel on my R1150R is not "a beauty".

I think the instruments this type of bike needs is old type pods - although I didn't think the R1150R's looked that bad.

The worst feature I think on the R1150R (and I know a lot of people like them) was that silly front mudguard/beak or whatever you want to call it - oh! and the telelever swingarm - beautiful design yes, but it did not suit the bike.

The instruments they used on the old R1100R was the worst, before they changed it.

I wanted to change my old 1150 Rockster, after testing the K 1200 S/R/GT, R 1200 RT I liked them all.
K 1200 GT a bit heavy for the city and I didn't like the tail, the others I didn't found them comfortable, too sporty.

But after test riding the new R 1200 R I went ahead and bought it, everything feel right, the position, the stability... a lot of fun.
